I am a music specialist and the music I write is original, tested on children and for the less confident teacher. My aim is to provide you with everything you need to fulfil Topic requirements and those of the National Curriculum (without having to prepare anything.) I provide Power Points/videos and give you mp3s and lyrics. Notation is sometimes given. The instrumental parts are dead easy!

This PowerPoint is a brief study of the Battle of Culloden and contains links to other relevant sites (pictures, videos, songs, info etc). It is intended to be used with The Skye boat song and another song "The Ghosts of Culloden ". The former is available on the premium site with mp3s, video or a PowerPoint presentation. Both songs act as a wonderful starting point from which to enter this period of Jacobean history. They can be viewed on YouTube. Our class are studying Famous British battles and we will use the songs as part of the music curriculum (The genre of folk music)

Listening to the news this morning , I heard an interview with Anna Deutcher. She is a musical prodigy and a delightful child! This is just what I need to inspire years 3 and 4 today and maybe give them an antidote to "Classical music is not cool" You need to be able to view YouTube in your classroom to use this PPT in order to hear her compositions and she her being interviewed.

Edited highlights of 3 Olympic ceremonies

The video contains edited highlights of the past 3 Olympic ceremonies.Key stage one children could learn what a ceremony is and discover the themes used since 2000. Key stage 2 children can look further into how a mood is created using music and movement or see the lesson plan for designing an Olympic event. The video can be used as a stimuli for movement, poetry, history or dance. II have reduced the size so that you can preview the video by sound if you are not able to use You-tube at school. Note , this video 's quality is poor. and is much better on YouTube.

Two examples of different pitch (singing) Paul Robson and Diana Danrau from Queen of the night. There is a suggested activity for the children to compose with instruments. They could try their voices if you like. I have edited these videos so they get to the good 'bits quickly. For some reason, the children were entranced by them ! The web addresses are for the full length versions and original sources

Year 6 boys collaborate and write a song outlining how man disrespects the planet. A sound bite from a partner school’s recording in Africa is added to Dance e jay to create a global feel. This is a good example of how dance e jay can work with imported sound files Useful as a stimulus for poetry, writing or protest song writing . . Children love the work of their peers .Method -Brainstorm ideas, Chose most relevant words and then find words which rhyme with them. Develop a backing track using Dance E jay or a similar programme.

I have used these resources after reading the book "Lost and found" by Oliver Jeffers. The film is edited highlights of the way a penguin moves. I wrote the music to follow those movements. The children can add instruments to it for added effect( e.g. A guiro (scraper) I have put more resources in the premium section, (an animated song with instrumental parts for the non specialist and an art worksheet. These all fit with the Friendship/Sea theme. https://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/a-song-about-friendship-with-percussion-parts-non-specialist-11059683

Simple songs to sing inspired by the pages of" I like books" by the famous author Anthony Browne. Press the icons to hear the songs. "The Shape Game " also by Anthony Browne, looks at the picture in details and develops a song in which children are encouraged to copy the simple musical accompaniment. Useful for seaside topic. Alex from year6 recorded a ball bouncing and inserted this sound bite to create a piece of music about his favorite sport, basket ball. He imported the sample into dance e jay. The music was then imported into a video of a basket ball player he respected. The result is in the download. This is a good example of how dance e jay can work with imported sound files

A song based on Beep beep Ima sheep. Non specialist friendly. PPT, mp3s, teaching material, notation

This is a nonsense song about animals having identity problems. The sheep thinks that she’s a car and the cow thinks that she’s a dog. There are parts for the untuned instruments to play along with the melody. I got the idea from the tune Beep beep Ima sheep . I asked LiDeuce Deuce, the composer if I could use the words of the title in my song . Normally I would sell my original songs but I promised LiDeuce Deuce (Tod Bryanton ) that I wouldn’t , hence this freebie. Key stage 1 Pupils should be taught to: • use their voices expressively and creatively by singing songs and speaking chants and rhymes • play tuned and untuned instruments musically • listen with concentration and understanding to a range of high-quality live and recorded music •experiment with, create, select and combine sounds using the inter-related dimensions of music. Included in pack PPT of the animated song with music (Video on YouTube ) Follow up ideas Melody and chords notation A chime bar part notation Chime bar parts pictures Backing track without chime bars Backing with chime bars Vocals

Ages 6-8 Sun flower seed sowing is a prerequisite with this resource The presentation is in A4 size, so the worksheets can be printed directly from the PowerPoint. I have included a free song from the musical “The Sunflowers” which could be a starting point. There are 10 different areas in the Sunflower Project. The one here concentrates observing the sunflowers over the year with a viewfinder and looking at the shades of colour in a seed under the magnifying glass. The sheets can be trimmed easily by the child so that they can be pasted into an A4 booklet. The sunflower Project starts with the sowing of the sunflower seed and follows the observation through until Harvest. Each resource covers a curriculum area. The assumption is that natural science knowledge is absorbed through these various activities.
